IFC (World Bank Group) Introduces "Business Edge" Strategies to Promote Entrepreneurship
Center for Entrepreneurship and Leadership (CEL) a joint initiative of SME Business Support Fund (BSF) Ministry of Finance and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) organized a special training workshop at its Islamabad campus to equip the students and professionals on different business techniques required to run a profitable business.
Certified trainers of International Finance Corporation (IFC) World Bank Group shared their knowledge and expertise on this occasion. Mohsin Lodhi and Adnan Shahid certified trainers at IFC presented "Business Edge" a world class training system developed by IFC to deliver practical, needs-driven high impact management training for more effective small and medium enterprises in the developing countries.
Since 2002, over 100,000 individuals have been trained with "Business Edge" in developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to Pakistan "Business Edge" is also currently available in the Middle East Yemen, Egypt and Afghanistan.
The IFC professionals said that "Business Edge" methodology if followed in the true spirit contributes a great deal in flourishing Entrepreneurship and positively impacts the overall National Economy.
Mr. Mohsin Lodhi said that Entrepreneurship fosters sustainable economic growth in developing countries and provides youth an opportunity to make best use of their capabilities in National Development. Mr. Adnan Shahid said that the "Business Edge" program will specify targets exploiting potential in accordance with the needs of Pakistani SME's.
The workshop was attended by students of SZABIST as well as those of (NUST, IQRA University, ICMC, and AIOU ) while professionals from (Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Population, ASKARI Bank Ltd ,Excel Lab Islamabad, and Illusion Islamabad) were also present on the occasion.
Participants belonging from Social Sciences, Media Sciences, Business Administration, Information Technology, and Fashion Designing, expressed the confidence that the best practice they have been apprised of by the certified trainers of IFC will greatly help them in starting their entrepreneurship activities.
The certified trainers of IFC assured all out corporation on behalf of their organization to augment the development of entrepreneurship specifically to generate employment opportunities for youth in Pakistan.
Javed Iqbal Operations Officer, IFC, Business Edge said that for a country's economy to progress each and every segment of the society has to drive the economy rather than relying solely on government and blaming it for not doing enough in this regard.
Director SZABIST Syed Asad Hussain said that his institution will continue to be instrumental in spare heading entrepreneurship activities in order to involve more and more youth in driving economic activities.
