Master's in Project Management


SZABIST started its Master's Degree in Project Management (MPM) program in Spring-2009. Admissions are offered TWICE a year; Fall & Spring. More than 300 students have already graduated. More than 15 students of SZABIST Islamabad have obtained PMI certification of Project Management Professional (PMP). In recognition of their performance, SZABIST has awarded its PMP certified students with 'Recognition of Achievement' Medals. SZABIST Project Management students also organized 1st SZABIST National Project Management Conference in Islamabad Club Auditorium in January, 2012 which was well attended and widely publicized in the national press.

MPM provides students with the tools and techniques to manage day to day activities of projects of different nature. The course is designed for people of all walks of life. For practicing project managers, it will be a guide to enhance their capabilities and a reference for typical problems that may emerge from time to time. It will also enable them to understand their role in the mission of their organization. For those who wish to make a fresh start in the field of Project Management, they will find this a useful tool to pursue a career in. For functional managers, this program can provide an insight to enhance their contribution to project success. The concepts, principles and techniques taught in this course are universally accepted and practiced. The entire degree program will take one full calendar year.

To obtain MPM degree, Nine (9) courses and Two (2) projects must be completed. It is a 12 months degree program comprising of three semesters. Each semester will have three taught courses. However, in the 2nd and 3rd semester, the students will also have to take an additional project. Each taught course comprises of 16-classes of three hour duration. Projects can be of two kinds, computer based training (CBT) projects or classroom teaching based projects. Computer software and related material along with technical assistance will also be provided to assist students in preparing their projects after training. Technical project advisor is always available for any help. Classroom seminars, project management related games, visits to live projects, guest lectures from international speakers are all part of this program.

Classes will take place on weekends (Saturday one class and Sunday two classes), Saturday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Sunday 10:00am to 05:00pm. Recently, Friday - Saturday schedule has also been introduced with success. The timings are the same as in Saturday - Sunday session. The option of weekdays classes is available and can be pursued if the number of students opting for this mode exceeds 20 students.

For admission to the MPM Program, the applicant must possess a minimum of sixteen (16) years of education / 4 years Bachelor / Master degree from HEC recognized educational institutes with minimum 55% marks / CGPA 2.50.

An ONLINE entrance test and group discussion/ interview will be conducted to all applicants at SZABIST. However, a student possessing a valid NTS/GAT result of 50% marks can replace it with the ONLINE test.

Classes will take place on:
Weekend Mode I: Friday (06:00pm-09:00pm) & Saturday (10:00am-01:00pm) & (02:00pm-05:00pm)
Weekend Mode II: Saturday (06:00pm-09:00pm) & Sunday (10:00am-01:00pm) & (02:00pm-05:00pm)
Weekdays: Three classes from Monday thru Thursday with one day off, This option is available if reasonable number of students opt for it.
