ZAB-EXECUTIVES: A society of Management School. They are currently
planning to hold some seminars and a few entertaining
events. New Students of Management School are welcome
to join and take part in the activities.
Both of the societies work in collaboration with each
other. Help from the SZABCOM members were acquired when
the ZABEXECUTIVES took their oaths. In the coming year
more activities are planned by both the societies. We
are hopeful that by working together of both the societies
will make SZABIST more reputable in Islamabad. We wish
these societies best of luck and hope that new intake
would participate to the fullest, which will groom the
society more.
COMPUTER LABORATORIES:
New Dell lab is fully functional now.
UPGRADED INTERNET FACILITY:
We have recently upgraded our bandwidth from 256k to
1MB.

GLOBAL DOMAIN:
Students have been provided with a global domain access,
this facility helps them to view their disk quota from
virtually anywhere.
NEW SCANNER:
A new scanner has been brought to facilitate students
with State of the Art Technology. Details of the scanner
can be acquired from Mr. Zahid or Mr. Asif, Lab Administrators.
LIBRARY:
The library collection now exceeds the mark of 1500,
and another 500 books are likely to be added in the
collection in this fiscal year. The library has subscription
of 20 magazines in all and also receives 16 complementary
magazines and newsletters.

Recently a scanner facility is also provided in the
lib. And OPAC [on-line public access] would be implemented
within a short time. This facility will allow the users

view the library collection,
returning dates of the books, the dates on which the
books were borrowed etc.
STUDY ROOMS:
Two new study rooms, on the ground floor, have also
made functional for group study.
SCHOOL PRESENTATION: A team comprising
of Dr. Afaq, Miss Ambrina, Mr. Fahad MBA and Ms. Nazish
BCS paid a visit to Chinar Army Public School, Murree
on, July 16, 2003.

The focus of presentation was "Career Planning"
and to give prospective students a broader view of SZABIST.
This was followed by a Question/Answer session.
TRIP TO BHURBAN:
On February 5 2003 a trip was arranged to Bhurban for
all the students of SZABIST by Ms. Ambrina Permanent
Faculty member, Computer Science Department. Students
from all the classes took part and a few faculty members
also went on the trip.

The snow and sliding roads made the journey more interesting.
Lunch was served in Bhurban and the students spent the
day. On the way back the evening tea was served in Rawal
Dam. It was a nice experience and we hope that such
activities would continue in the future.
HALLA GULLA NIGHT: The University
arranged a "Halla Gulla Night" on July 12,
2003. The events included, Gaming Competition [Need
for Speed 6 and Medal of Honor in the networking lab].
A movie was shown on Multimedia, and Bar B Q dinner
was served. Mainly MCS Day and MCS Evening and BCS 6
took part in the event and it was a great success.
