Campus Life Events   Events   Archives SZABIST Organizes Quiz and Debate Competition Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) has organized All Pakistan Quiz and Debate Competition "ZABQUEST" in collaboration with the CONFED at its Islamabad campus on February 25, 2010. Mr. Ghulam Farid Kathia, Minister of State for Education was the Chief Guest while Mr. Syed Asad Hussain, Campus Head, SZABIST Islamabad, Mr. Yasir Awan, Director Operations, CONFED, faculty members and number of students were also present on the occasion. The purpose of contest was to promote bilingual skills among the students. Students representing around thirty leading schools and colleges of the country participated in the competition. The four day activity was consisted of qualifying rounds, semi finals and final. The City School Islamabad was at the top whereas F-G College for Women F-7/2 and F.C College Lahore were on second and third positions respectively. Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Education lauded the SZABIST efforts for organizing a quiz and debate competition on nation level. He said such competitions built confidence in the youth and encouraged them to participate in extra-curricular activities along with their education. He has appreciated performance of the winners and distributed cash prizes amongst them. Mr. Syed Asad Hussain, Campus Head, SZABIST Islamabad has said that there was a need to project a soft image of the country to the world. "Such activities are in fact the reflection of our commitment to present Pakistan to the world as a peace loving country", he added. He had praised the ZabQuest team for organizing a healthy competition on the mass level. Mr. Yasir Awan, Director Operations, CONFED has said that quiz and debate competitions between students were a great source of spreading knowledge. He had congratulated the winning teams of contest. "CONFED is a foreign education consultancy which deals with various universities of UK, USA, Canada and Malaysia, and provides assistance to students in visa process and IELTS preparation", he informed the audience. Mr. Abdul Qadus, Ms. Hania Adeel, Mr. Ali Raza Sadiq, Ms. Sarah Anjum, Ms. Rimsha Sohail, Ms. Fateema Lodhi, Mr. Arsalan Tahir, Ms. Samahir Hasny, Ms. Haya Ursani, Ms. Maha Ursani, Ms. Benish Hasani, Mr. Qasim Javaid, Ms. Aonum Ikram, Mr. Arifullah Afridi, Mr. Faizan Ahmad, Ms. Madeeha Raza, Mr. Ali Moin, Mr. Awais Lodhi, Mr. Tanveer Nawaz, Mr. Mateen Sheikh, Mr. Adil Babar, Mr. Tousif ur Rehman, Mr. Zeeshan Khan, Mr. Faisal Jamil and Mr. Sajid Iqbal were the members of ZabQuest team.
